March 2018 Wrapup!

I had a productive month for tv shows. Not so much for anything else. I only read one book in March, two graphic novels, one fanfics (and I DNFd another), and I only watched one anime. I did get four movies watched, though, so at least I've made a little progress in my watchlist!

BATTLEMAGIC by Tamora Pierce

NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Tamora Pierce returns to the magical world of Winding Circle.

While visiting the God-King and the First Circle temple in Gyongxe, mages Briar, Rosethorn, and Evvy are invited to visit the emperor's summer palace. Although treated like royalty when they first arrive, the mages soon discover that the emperor plans to invade Gyongxe, posing a fatal threat to the home temple of the Living Circle religion.

Accompanied by one of the emperor's prize captives, the three mages rush to Gyongxe to warn its citizens of the impending attack. With the imperials hot on their trail, Briar, Rosethorn, and Evvy must quickly help the country prepare for battle.

But even with the help of new allies, will their combined forces be enough to fight the imperial army and win the war?

Slightly confused... If I remember right from Will of the Empress, wasn't Briar captured and held prisoner in this war? Or was that a war that comes a little later?
Other than that, another great one! I think I enjoyed this one more than Melting Stones. This one was more gripping and interesting. Though, I wish these had been released in appropriate order. It's a little confusing to follow when they're out of order like this. Should have read this, then Melting Stones, then Will of the Empress.

Sherlock Vol 2

Manga adaptation of the second Sherlock BBC episode - printed in English in the US for the first time!
Holmes and Watson tackle brain-teasing crimes in modern-day London in this stunning Manga, presented in its original right-to-left reading order, and in the full chapters as originally serialized! Meet Holmes and Watson for the first time... all over again!

The Wallflower Vol 1

MAKEOVER OF THE CENTURY
It’s a gorgeous, spacious mansion, and four handsome, fifteen-year-old friends are allowed to live in it for free! There’s only one condition–that within three years the guys must transform the owner’s wallflower niece into a lady befitting the palace in which they all live! How hard can it be?
Enter Sunako Nakahara, the agoraphobic, horror-movie-loving, pockmark-faced, frizzy-haired, fashion-illiterate recluse who tends to break into explosive nosebleeds whenever she sees anyone attractive. This project is going to take more than our four heroes ever expected: it needs a miracle!

In The Deepest Space by loss4words

On a mission to Mars, Isabella Swan runs out of air before she can make it back to her ship. It's not Heaven she wakes up to! (Genre: Twilight, Scifi, Soulmate)

I don't rate fanfiction, but I will say that I enjoyed it. I don't think I'll ever re-read it, but I did like it. It's pretty fast-paced, especially for a scifi fic. It has a good balance of drama, romance, and politics that made it an enjoyable read. I would recommend it to anyone who likes scifi and/or soul mate fics!

Withered Rose by Isabell2324

(removed from ffn)
King Edward lost his Queen due to a misunderstanding & his carelessness. Vampire witch Esme reincarnated her, seeing Edward's sorrow. Can a normal teen Bella accept her duties as Vampire Queen & love the person who made her kill herself?

DNF'd. The writing was all over the place and I couldn't get into it.

Strange Scales by NemmaStar (a re-read)

Post-Eclipse. Mere weeks before her wedding, Bella disappears. With vampires, werewolves and humans to blame, no one thinks to look to the more sinister monsters lurking just off shore. As Bella is thrown into a frightening new world, Edward and Jacob must put aside their differences to save the girl they both love. But will they be too late? FINALIST Fanatic Awards 2015! ExB HEA

This was my third reading... so I can defintly say I love this fic! It's good! Like, an epic good! It's a post-Eclipse AU where B is taken and turned into a mermaid before the wedding! It is LONG (67 chapters level long) - though, it only took me two days to read it cos I couldn't put it down! - and a story of epic proportions. HIGHLY recommend! It's the first hardcore mermaid fic I've read! It's well written and devloped with ironed out characters and lore. It's a great read!

NOVA by cupcakeriot (a re-read)

The early 27th century - a young omnilinguist gypsy girl who creates visions with her li'lute, an alien bio-weapon struggling with his control, the Federation starship Nova, and how their lives intertwine.

At this point, I've lost count of how many times I've read this fic... at least a half a dozen, maybe more. I LOVE Nova. It's written by a friend of mine who was inspired by the new Star Trek movies. The influence is obvious, but not distracting. It's well written and plotted, the characters and their adventures are thoroughly enjoyable! I HIGHLY recommend!

Written in the Stars by Lissa Bryan (a re-read)

Edward is king of a dying race, his planet torn by civil war. Bella is abducted to become his bride. From college student to Queen... Can she learn to love this strange man and help save his people? AU/OOC. Rated M for lemons, violence and mature themes.

This is another that I've read so many times I've lost count! And it's another scifi, though one VERY different from Nova, even if there are a few similar themes. It too is well written and developed with interesting characters that make reading it a snap!
It's full of aliens, love at first sight, advanced technology, and political intrigue! Another I HIGLY recommend!

Code Geass Akito
The side story takes place in 2017 a.t.b., around the time Lelouch took on the alter-ego “Zero” and built up his “Black Knights” rebellion army. The setting is in Europe, where the Euro Universe (E.U.) allied nations are being invaded by the overwhelming forces of the Holy Britannian Empire. On the verge of defeat, the E.U. army forms a special division known as “W-O″, of which a young pilot named Akito Hyuuga is a member. Layla Malkal , a former Britannian Aristocrat comes to the E.U.'s aid, commanding the “Wyvern” Knightmare corps comprised of Japanese teenagers. They recklessly plunge into a battlefield, where the survival rate is extremely low, at about 5% only. They fight for their freedom, and for a "home" to which they can return.
